Pre-judgement, A Fail!

About 45 minutes ago, while I was thinking about what to blog next, there was a knock at the door, and my little nephew peeped through the window. Oh, it’s Ashley’s mummy, he shouted (not the actual name though, for some reasons), as his little sister dashed out of the sitting room, in an attempt to evade the supposed Pastor’s wife, who was waiting outside to gain access to the house. Well, you can imagine what happened next. She slipped, and down goes the Lion.

I eventually got up, went straight to the door and it was an uncle of theirs, that was at the door.

All that running around slipping, and falling, were all in vain, I thought to myself.

Many of us are like that. Always making our decisions based on the pre-judgements of others, which is not supposed to be.

If that young girl had gone to the door to confirm if it truly was their Pastor’s wife that was at the door, I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t have found herself in the situation she did.

So, the next time you hear a negative report about a family member, a co-worker or colleague or a close friend, ensure you weigh that report, and if possible confirm the source of that report personally from the individual in question, before you can decide to stay away or draw even closer.

Till next time, I remain who I’ve always been!

  1. You are so right about weighing the reports we hear about this and that. One thing I tell my children is that it is OK to listen to the message, but pay attention to who the messenger is. Then verify the message to ascertain whether or not the message is true.

In your scenario outlined above, the little girl could have saved herself from all that turmoil and from falling. It’s a wonderful story about life and how we should conduct ourselves. Thank you for sharing it.

By the way, I hope the little girl did not get hurt in the fall. 🙂

  2. You are welcome Marlene. I’m glad you like it. I’m tired of people losing friendships and staying away from family members, all because of one negative report or the other. Oh, the little girl’s pretty much ok anyways..thanks 😀
